Milan presents first results of its experimentation

July 17 @ 8:00 - 17:00

Milan tests the innovative solutions financed by the “Synchronicity” project The test of the winning applications of the European Synchronicity project dedicated to the Internet of Things is underway in Milan. Milan, 17 July 2019 - Milan is among the 8 partner cities of the SynchroniCity project which has funded the testing of innovative solutions enabled by the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence. The project is based on minimal data standardization and interoperability mechanisms that allow digital services to be shared, lowering costs and contributing to improving the quality of life of citizens in a perspective of collaboration and reuse. Starting from March until the end of the year, Milan together with the other European cities chosen for the tests, is testing four solutions that tackle the challenges of social inclusion, energy saving and sustainable mobility. They range from a chatbot, a virtual assistant that directs the Milanese citizen through their smartphone to the online services of the Municipality, from the appointment request for the e-ID card, to the online payment of muinicipal taxea and fines, but also to reserve the number to avoid queuing at the Registry offices. Passing to the issue of energy saving with the sensor that can detect the consumption of each individual electrical appliance in an entire building, applied to the building of the Municipal Accounting Office in Piazza della Scala. We also test a crowdmapping system that provides information on accessibility for people with physical disabilities of urban routes and public transport stops. Finally, a tracker of bicycle routes has being experimented to understand the demand of cyclists and improve infrastructure, tested on BikeMi bikes. The tests funded by the Synchroncity project have brought together various internal subjects but also external to the Municipality such as the Mobility Agency AMAT, Disabled Association Ledha Milan, the PT company ATM and the bike sharing operator Clearchannel, allowing to enhance their data, collect new ones and evaluate possible innovative ways to face the challenges of the smart city of collaboration between different European cities.
